Pennsylvania divorce: What happens if your spouse lies in court?

According to the National Endowment for Financial Education, nearly one third of all adults in the United States admit to being deceptive with their spouse or partner about their shared finances. Almost 60 percent acknowledge they have hid cash or assets, while others admit keeping quiet about a small purchase (54 percent) and still others have stowed away a bill from their partner (30 percent). More than one third freely admit they have lied about how much money they make, how much money they have and/or how much money they owe. It is perhaps no wonder, then, that couples might think of lying when it comes to divorce proceedings.

Child custody: Who gets access to medical, health records?

Pennsylvania parents who have negotiated their own divorce recognize how complicated some of the issues can become. Everything from child custody to visitation and child support are typically on the table for discussion. Other issues are important as well, such as how the holidays will be split and providing for access to medical and health records. This is an issue of particular importance to fathers, particularly since more than 80 percent of single parent households are said to be headed by the mother.

Man who fled country owes $1.6 million in back child support

A record of sorts has reportedly been set by a man for owing more child support than any other individual in the country. Pennsylvania readers may be interested in following the case, which recently took a turn for the worse for the accused man when he was arrested by federal authorities after six years away from the country. It is a federal crime to leave the United States for the purpose of avoiding the payment of child support.

Fathers' rights issues advancing in Pennsylvania and elsewhere

Fathers' rights is a growing area of family law in Pennsylvania and throughout the United States. Traditionally, issues concerning fathers' rights received little attention in a significant number of jurisdictions across the country. When parents divorced or separated, any minor children almost always ended up in the sole custody of the mother with the father was relegated to weekend visitations and a hefty child support payment. The times, however, are definitely changing.

Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher divorce snag; Why the delay?

It has been just about one year since Pennsylvania readers heard that Demi Moore was planning to divorce Ashton Kutcher. Indeed, scandal sheets were quick to report that Ashton was said to have spent the couple's sixth wedding anniversary pursuing another woman. A divorce announcement followed in Nov. 2011. Now, coming up on the one year anniversary of that announcement, no divorce papers have been filed.
