Ricki Lake has apparently come to terms with this shift in gender dynamics and divorce. The celebrity offered to pay her husband spousal support in the divorce petition she filed in early October. The 47-year-old former television talk show host cited irreconcilable differences as the reason for wanting a divorce from her husband Christian Evans, a jewelry designer.
The couple had only been married for approximately two and a half years. They officially went public with their relationship during the summer of 2010 and then married in a secret ceremony in April 2012. Christian Evans has yet to file a response to the divorce petition, according to the latest reports. Lake has commented on the divorce via Twitter saying that the breakup is emotionally challenging, but that it is a factor in her recent weight loss.
Many in Pennsylvania will be watching to see what happens with the celebrity couple’s upcoming divorce proceedings. If Evans accepts the Lake’s spousal support offer, there may still be various aspects that need to be decided during the divorce process. Although these details may be agreed upon via mediation, it is possible that a court battle will be required in order to resolve any conflicts stemming from property division or other divorce-related matters.
