People are constantly in a state of change and growth. For married couples, this can sometimes mean that spouses end up growing apart from one another. This seems to have been what happened with the marriage of actor John Schneider, who many in Pennsylvania will remember from the television series “Dukes of Hazard.” Apparently, the actor and his wife have recently initiated the divorce process.
The 54-year-old actor says that the decision for a divorce was aimed at preserving the couple’s friendship while also being a good example for their children. The couple had been married for 21 years before deciding to file divorce papers with the court in November. The actor’s wife listed irreconcilable differences as her reason for filing for the divorce.
The couple has three adult children together. The wife is reportedly asking the court to order her husband to pay spousal support. This is not the actor’s first time ending a marriage. At one time, he was married to Tawny Little, a former Miss America pageant winner. Schneider is currently starring in the television show “The Haves and the Have Nots.”
Many in Pennsylvania will now be watching to see under what terms the marriage will be ended. This will be decided in a court of law by a judge assigned to the divorce case. Along with spousal support, the court will also decide issues of property division and various other aspects of the divorce. Litigation is a chance for each side to make its case regarding how these issues are ultimately resolved. Therefore, it is important for spouses to properly prepare to navigate the court process.
