Many people in Pennsylvania can attest to the fact that marriage is often difficult, even under the best circumstances. Add in small children, a stressful job, media speculation and a significant amount of travel, and the difficulties are often insurmountable. Many people decide that a divorce may be the best option for them. The wife of actor Jeremy Renner has recently filed for divorce after only a short marriage.
The actor is known for his privacy, and only announced his marriage after he was spotted wearing a wedding band afterward. Renner and his wife, Sonni Pacheco, were only recognized publicly as a couple after it was discovered that she was pregnant with the couple’s daughter. In recent papers, Pacheco has cited irreconcilable differences as the reason for the split after only10 months of marriage.
Although Renner’s spokesperson has yet to comment, some speculate that the divorce is not amicable based on some of the claims made in court papers. Specifically, Pacheco has requested that Renner return several important documents, including her passport and Social Security card. Additionally, Pacheco is requesting that their prenuptial agreement be voided due to fraud. She is seeking physical custody of their baby as well as spousal support.
While there is the common misperception that a divorce is filled with contention and anger, this isn’t necessarily the case. Many people in Pennsylvania are able to peacefully resolve their issues through divorce mediation, without having to air all their issues in a public courtroom. The privacy afforded by mediation may have a strong appeal for a person such as Renner who claims to value his privacy.
