Father charged with kidnapping in child custody case

Some parents will go to great lengths to be able to spend time with their children, especially if they feel child custody arrangements are not as they should be. Unfortunately, some have turned to kidnapping as a way to get that time with their young ones. Pennsylvania parents may be interested in a child custody case where a father is facing charges after allegedly kidnapping his son.

A woman called her local police department when her 21-month-old son was not returned by his father at the time specified in custody orders. She was able to contact her ex, and he told her that he and the child were on the way to another state. His destination was where he had been raised and where members of his family still lived. A report on the incident did not give a reason for the father's actions.

The boy was returned to his mother after police found the father and arrested him. They charged him with kidnapping and violating the terms of his legal custody order; his bail was set at $10,000. The judge in the case also issued a restraining order to keep the father from having any contact with either the mother or the child.

Not all child custody cases are acrimonious. Some parents are able to work out any complications and abide by the arrangements they set. For Pennsylvania parents who may need assistance in defining the parameters of a custody agreement, a legal professional proficient in family law will be able to give some beneficial advice.
