The phrase "'Til death do us part" goes by the wayside in so many marriages today. Because they are in the limelight, it seems divorce hits celebrities at a higher rate than other people. Even those who have been married for a number of years do not seem to make it until death parts them. Pennsylvania hip-hop fans may be interested to learn that Mary J. Blige is looking to divorce her husband of 13 years.
Blige claims there are irreconcilable differences between the two after all this time. In the years following their union, she said his encouragement was the reason she was able to quit drinking and taking drugs. News sources have not been able to determine whether the two signed a prenuptial agreement before the wedding.
Her husband is seeking spousal support in the amount of more than $130,000 each month to continue to live in the manner to which he had become accustomed. The breakdown of the monetary allowances includes amounts he wants to donate to charities, as well as mortgage payments for several properties they own. He also wants her to pay a monthly sum of $5,000 in child support for the three children he brought into the marriage.
When divorce seems to be inevitable, Pennsylvania residents may want some assistance as they navigate through all the requirements of the state. During such an emotional time, it may be best to have an unbiased party to give needed advice. There are attorneys available who will have the best interests of their clients in mind during this time of confusion.
