Foster parents continue to fight for child custody

Pennsylvania residents may be interested to learn of a child custody battle between a birth father and the foster parents who have raised the girl since she was a baby. A judge ordered a trial home visit with the father two years ago, and the foster parents have not been able to see or speak to the girl since she left. The foster parents say they will continue fighting this child custody battle.

What are the procedures for step-parent adoption?

When a step-parent in Pennsylvania decides to adopt the child of his or her spouse, there are specific procedures to follow. By such an adoption, a step-parent will become a legal parent of the child and must accept full responsibility for him or her. Once the adoption is legal, the non-custodial parent loses all legal rights to the child and will no longer have child custody or any other responsibilities toward the child.
